Riverside and Avondale are thought of as one wide and long continuous neighborhood that follows the banks of the St. John’s River from Downtown to the north. It’s really an eclectic melting pot, with a collection of small, intimate shopping and dining villages, from Five Points, with the charming bohemian feel, to Avondale's antiques stores and mid to high end restaurants like The Brick and Orsay. In fact, Riverside/Avondale was named one of the top ten neighborhoods in the United States by the American Planning Association in 2010.
There is a great selection of condos, many right on the river, such as the high-rise Villariva. The more contemporary 1661 Riverside has condo and loft residences over ground floor retail shops and restaurants. The John Gorrey Condominium is very unique. It’s a renovated high school now comprised of lofts and condos, located right in the heart of Avondale/Riverside.
